Today I stumbled upon a post about Operation Bunny Drop. The aim is to send 2,500 handcrafted bunnies to Japan for some of the children to cuddle. The idea was dreamed up by Liz Minnick who is over in Japan and she will deliver the bunnies in late May.
It seemed the ideal opportunity to try out the pattern I downloaded from Patricia at Zen Crafting - see previous post. As you can see below I've already made a start. My daughter asked if I was making a hedgehog!
Can anyone tell me the secret of pulling embroidery thread from the skein, please? Mine always ends up in a terrible tangly ball as you can see.
I'm finding it hard to blog at the moment as we are having a really rough couple of weeks. Tomorrow I may feel up to telling you about it.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough time.
I usually wind my thread straight onto a cardboard bobbin because I am the queen of tangled skeins. Oh yes.

I love your yellow flower embroidery--so sweet! The first bunny is the toughest, I can tell you, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. Good luck!
Sorry, dottycookie, I think I am the Queen of Tangled Skeins. Fiona, please let me know if you find out the trick of pulling out embroidery floss without a tangle.

Fiona, thanks for linking to this great project! I registered. It's going to be my pleasure to send some bunnies directly to the children affected by the earthquake/tsunami.

What a lovely idea. The way I stop skeins tangling is to hold one set of skins in say the left hand thumb and forefinger and then the other single or double skien you want to use in the other hands thumb and forefinger, I then hold the other end in my mouth and pull them apart. Sounds odd but it works for me :-)
