Friday I bought this wool to crochet some Japanese flower pattern flowers on the airplane over to Oregon. I'm going to take my old bone crochet hook so I don't think there'll be any problems with security.
I felt I needed something jolly as we are in the middle of a difficult time here. In the midst of getting all the arrangements sorted to go to the States for my mother in law's funeral, my mother died. So we are dashing around trying to get things sorted before we have to leave.
My mother was suffering with severe dementia, and she was 88, so it is a blessing that she doesn't have to fight it anymore. But that still doesn't take away the shock of discovering a dead body and having to deal with everything.
Sorry to put up such a gloomy post but it explains why I haven't been blogging too much recently.

I'm so sorry for your loss, no matter how ill or old the person is it's still a loss and sad for those left.Safe journey.

Oh Fiona - you said you'd had a stressful week but we had no idea... it's such a difficult thing to deal with even when you know that death was a release.
So sorry it came at the same time as you MIL's funeral.
Sending you a big hug from Suffolk - you'll get through it... and crochet will help (I did loads of crochet at the end of last year when I was in a very similar situation).

So sorry to hear that Fiona, like you say it must be a release to know that she doesn't have to deal with dementia anymore which is such a horrible slow desease but still so shocking and sad that she has left you. Take care of yourself, crochet therapy sounds like a fab idea. xxxx
