I love the day I look out of my bedroom window and see the advance party of house martins coming back to inspect the nests they left last year in our eaves.
And today is the day.
As I type I can see their shadows fluttering across my screen while they fly back and forth chattering away. This is quite early to see them. Usually it's about St George's Day that they arrive. And last year it was well into May before I saw them.
Usually they go away for a few days and then all the rest of the family arrive. We have three separate nests at our house. I consider myself truly lucky but my husband hates them because of all the mess they leave!
As I'm unable to take a photo of the house martins, they are just too quick for me, I've included this video of a band from Africa that all people of may age will fondly remember.
It is St George's day tomorrow...
You are lucky to have those nests even if the birds do make a mess.

I would be happy to have the nests too, but don't think my husband would be, that's men! Thanks for the music I do remember it, can't wait for it to be a 'Sunshine Day'.
